Christmas & New Year Closing Times
The centre will be closed from Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve) until Saturday 7th January 2012 when we re-open for our first Table Top Sale of the New Year - a perfect time to get shot of all those unwanted presents Santa brought you! We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year for another busy 12 months at the centre
Sir James Knott Trust donation enables new storage capacity
Following a very generous donation from the Sir James Knott Trust we will now be able to go ahead with our conversion of the Main Hall stage area into a much needed storage room for the increasing amount of equipment involved in servicing our user groups. This will mean removing the stage and putting up another wall covered with full size dance mirrors so our fitness and martial arts groups can learn their moves more easily.
We are aiming to get the bulk of this work done in the first week of January 2012 so that when we reopen the hall will again be ready for use without too much disruption to our many users.
Community Foundation North Tyneside Fund & Tyne & Wear Grassroots Fund contribute to new stackable stage
The above funds have very kindly helped us with a donation towards the amount needed for a stackable stage system which will replace the existing stage which will be removed over the Christmas and New year break.
Thank you to the Hadrian Trust
The Hadrian Trust have very generously donated £500 towards the cost of our new display boards which will go up in the Main Hall and immediately host our displays for the free National Heritage Open Day on Saturday 10th September, 11am to 2pm. A big thank you goes out to the Hadrian Trust for helping us provide better facilities for our users
Thank you to the RW Mann Trust
We have recently bought a new Projector and Screen for the use of all our groups, with the Sequence Dance and Under 15s Art Club making greatest use initially
The money for these items (£1000) was very kindly provided by the local RW Mann Trust to whom we extend our warmest thanks
Bowler Wilf is 100 Not Out!
Veteran Carpet Bowls Club Member Wilf Coates reached his 100th Birthday in July and to celebrate he bowled a few shrewd shots then sat down with all his friends for a party in the main hall
Roz baked one of her special birthday cakes which Wilf quickly carved up and the other bowlers presented him with a fruit basket and some other goodies
The Carpet Bowlers are always looking for new members - enthusiasm is more important than skill - if you fancy a taster session (and a cuppa and biscuits) please just pop along any Tuesday morning at 10am and we'll make you very welcome!
